The Gay Community and the Church

The Missions-Outreach Team invites you to join us as we seek information and resources to help us:

? Continue the great Avent Ferry tradition of being a leader in social justice and healing ministries.

? Discern the needs of our church as it pertains to the issue of full inclusion.

? Seek a loving response to the needs of our church and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) community.

This is a logical “next step” meeting, following the Healthy Controversies / Holy Conversations event held during the summer. If you are interested in finding out how we can equip ourselves to best respond to the needs of our church, please join us!

Keynote Speaker: Rev. Laurie Hays-Coffman, Pastor of Calvary UMC, Co-Chair of the Conference Unity Dialogue Team, and VP of NC-MFSA

9:00 – 9:30 Coffee and donut gathering

9:30 – 11:30 Facilitated learning and discussion

11:30 Lunch out for those interested in continuing the discussion

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Mark 10:27
